Christmas Book Reviews

I know it's a bit late for a Christmas book review, but I found these two books that were a big hit with Tim and have to share them.

The first is by Eric Carle....you know the author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The book is called Dream Snow.

It's all about a farmer and his animals who are waiting for Christmas. The farmer falls asleep wondering when it will snow and dreams of napping beneath a "blanket of snow".

When the farmer wakes up there is snow everywhere, since he fell asleep thinking about snow he isn't sure if it's "real" snow or "dream" snow.

Our favorite part? The little velum-type pages to remove the snow mounds off of the animals.

...Oh, and the little "push here" button.

The next book I liked was a more religious Christmas book, called Room For a Little One by

  • Martin Waddell and
  • Jason Cockcroft (Illustrator). It's all about a kind ox in an empty stable sheltering stray animals. Every time an animal peeks into his door the kind ox says, "there's always room for a little one" and welcomes them in.

  • Of course, tired donkey comes to the stable and he has Mary and Joseph with him. I won't give away the story.

  • The story is beautiful and simply written and the illustrations are amazing.
  •

  • Merry Christmas!
